Tools

Each tool comes with blade cleaning brush, component removal and insertion tool and instructions. The tool you order will come with a blade set, fiber guide and fiber guide lock ONLY if you order it at the time you order the tool. See charts below for options and catalog numbers.

Blade Sets

All blade set catalog numbers are for two cutter blades packed in a matching set with corresponding fiber lock. They must be snapped apart before installation. They must only be used with their matching half to maintain precise cutting and stripping. Do not mix and match sets as this will decrease the accuracy of the blades and possibly damage them. See charts below for options and catalog numbers.

Ordering Procedures

Using the charts below determine which tool(s) you would like to order and write them down along with which blade sets and fiber guides you would like with your Micro Electronics, Inc. tool before you call. Our telephone number is 508-761-9161.

To Order a Complete Micro-Strip® Tool or Replacement Blade Set Follow These Instructions.

1. From table, identify fiber coating or cladding diameter you wish to strip down to. Read across to Complete Tool Catalog Number.

2. From Fiber Guide Selection table, identify desired coating or buffer diameter to learn Fiber Guide Catalog Number. Put 2-digit code in Complete Tool Catalog Number space to complete it.

3. Order complete tool. Proper cutter blade set will be provided.

4. Order replacement cutter blade sets and fiber guides as needed.

For best results use .0063 inch blade when removing a 250µm coating and use a .0080 inch blade when removing a 900µm buffer.

# For best results when stripping secondary buffer down to primary 250µm coating use blade size .021 inch.
## For best results when stripping secondary buffer down to primary 500µm coating use blade size .028 inch.

* Catalog numbers are for two cutter blade sets packaged together with a matching fiber guide lock. Each blade consists of a pair of joined, matched blades which must be snapped apart prior to use. Matched cutter blade sets are NOT interchangeable, and must only be used with their matching half.

NOTE: MS1 and MS2 components are not interchangeable.

To Order a Complete Soft-Strip® Ribbon Stripping Tool or Replacement Blade Set Follow These Instructions.

1. From table, identify ribbon type you wish to strip. Read across to Complete Tool Catalog Number.

2. Select the desired power supply option, B for battery-operated and T for electrical connection, and insert identifying letter in the space provided in the Complete Tool Catalog Number.

3. Order complete tool. Proper cutter blade set will be provided. Order the power supply separately from the table below.

4. Order replacement cutter blade sets and ribbon guides as needed.

NOTE: MS-SK-1 Thermal Stripping Kit includes all necessary components for stripping all ribbon except 18-fiber ribbon.

2. Select the desired power supply option, B for battery-operated and T for electrical connection, and insert identifying letter in the 1st space provided in the Complete Tool Catalog Number.

3. From Fiber Guide Selection table, identify desired coating or buffer diameter to learn Fiber Guide Catalog Number. Put 2-digit code in Complete Tool Catalog Number 2nd space to complete it.

4. Order complete tool. Proper cutter blade set will be provided. Order the power supply separately from the table below.

5. Order replacement cutter blade sets and fiber guides as needed.

NOTE: MS-SK-2 Thermal Stripping Kit includes all necessary components for stripping all single fibers with coating or buffing diameter from 250µm through 900µm. Also, Micro Electronics can supply Soft-Strip® tools and components for 18-32 A.W.G. wire or other custom applications. Contact the factory for ordering information.
