Soft-Strip® stripping tools from Micro-Electronics have integral heating elements which enable them to soften and strip such coatings and insulations as MYLENE, KAPTON, TEFLON, PVC and HYTREL. The Soft-Strip® system permits precise stripping of these tough coatings with less than 3 lbs. of peak pulling force for multi-fiber ribbon, and less than 1 lb. for single fiber. The result is no fiber damage and higher quality splices and connections.Units are available for optical fiber (180-1000µm) and all standard multi-fiber ribbons (encapsulated, bonded, ribbonized and flat fiber types). Custom tools are also available.

A variety of power options are available to suit any application, from AA battery-operated for field work, to AC adapter-operated for assembly lines.

One standard Soft-Strip® tool will handle a wide range of fiber diameters. Simply select and install the proper cutter blade sets, fiber guides and fiber guide locks. Or if you prefer, purchase Soft-Strip® tools individually fitted for your application.

To Order a Complete Soft-Strip® Ribbon Stripping Tool or Replacement Blade Set Follow These Instructions.

1. From table, identify ribbon type you wish to strip. Read across to Complete Tool Catalog Number.

2. Select the desired power supply option, B for battery-operated and T for electrical connection, and insert identifying letter in the space provided in the Complete Tool Catalog Number.

3. Order complete tool. Proper cutter blade set will be provided. Order the power supply separately.

4. Order replacement cutter blade sets and ribbon guides as needed.

NOTE: MS-SK-1 Thermal Stripping Kit includes all necessary components for stripping all ribbon except 18-fiber ribbon.

NOTE: MS-SK-2 Thermal Stripping Kit includes all necessary components for stripping all single fibers with coating or buffing diameter from 250µm through 900µm.
